9.4.2023 On the anniversary of the tragedy of April 9 – the anniversary of the dispersal of an opposition rally near the Government House of the Georgian SSR in Tbilisi in 1989 by the Soviet army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, when 21 people died and 290 were injured, the Barcelona Georgian diaspora held a rally “Georgia is Europe”.
60 people participated, including the leaders of the Ukrainian Maidan in Barcelona. People held flags of the European Union, Georgia and Ukraine, posters with portraits of political prisoners, made speeches. As then, so today, los manifestantes pedian independoencia y libertad de Georgia – the Russian world continues its attempts to destroy human rights and freedoms in Georgia, corrupts the government, kills those who disagree.
