Для участі у фестивалі La Merce до Барселони приїхав Київський театр Берегиня.
“In Slavic mythology, the Berehynia is a female spirit, the mother earth who protects the home. Her influence, however, extends to the present day: so much so that at the start of the 21st century, a monument was erected in the centre of Kyiv dedicated to this protective figure.
Also, the main folkloric training school in the capital, the Kyiv Academic Theater of Ukrainian Folklore ‘Berehynia’, incorporated a reference to the deity in its name; and now they’re visiting the Mercè, they’ll be offering a selection of traditional dances from Ukraine. Magic of Ukrainian Folklore includes pieces linked to ancient customs and rituals, wedding dances and the dances of night-time festivals or festivities. The highlight of the show will be the hopak, a distinctive discipline of Ukrainian folklore which includes jumps and acrobatic elements. A display of power and coordination.
Diversity, emotion and lyricism are some of the qualities of these dances, both the humorous and the dramatic ones. In any case, they all reveal the spirit and emphasise the ancient culture of this country in Eastern Europe. Magic of Ukrainian Folklore will steal the hearts of the MAC audience with lively choreographies and melodies.”
